Mark DiFraia Joins Kuma as Partner and EVP of Digital Identity
We are happy to welcome and introduce Mark DiFraia as our new Partner and member of the Kuma team. Mark has forged an exciting path in the digital identity market as he led the introduction of numerous new services and technologies across both of the financial securities and identity industries. He is renowned as an innovator and a “get it done” leader within the identity space. During his nearly 10 years with IDEMIA (f/k/a L1 Identity Solutions and MorphoTrust), Mark led the formation of the digital identity business and developed a team that won two federal government grants totaling over $3 Million. The team spearheaded the use of DMV identity proofing (smartphone app including DL doc auth and facial recognition) as the baseline for new, high-trust digital credentials. These initiatives were the foundation of the firm’s digital identity portfolio which included the eID and Mobile Driver License solutions. He continued his industry-facing efforts by marketing these new digital capabilities, resulting in multiple pilots, early-adopter sales and a deep pipeline of opportunities. In addition to his work at IDEMIA, Mark supported the National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace (now known as Trusted Identities Group) initiatives through multiple leadership roles within the public-private sector led Identity Ecosystem Steering Group, where he served as the Board’s President through their successful acquisition period. Mark has a series of articles and videos presenting his perspective across the digital identity market available on the web. We are excited for Mark to continue the mission to drive positive societal changes in the area of Digital Identity through thought leadership and direct engagement with our customers.
Mark is a natural fit with the Kuma family as he shares the same passions and beliefs that Kuma was built upon – identity, security and privacy are fundamental to today’s online environment and one of today’s greatest societal issues. Mark is a firm believer that identity solutions are ultimately more successful for businesses when they are secure, resilient, privacy-enhancing, interoperable, cost effective and easy to use while serving the needs of us all as individuals. Mark’s leadership will further reaffirm this vision as he looks forward to expanding our engagements with additional government agencies and private sector organizations. We understand The market is clearly demonstrating the increasing recognition for the importance of digital identity and is investing accordingly across industries. We will partner with public and private organizations to define requirements, execute market strategies and enhance ecosystem relationships while driving best practices in identity management. Mark is focused on ensuring organizations have a full appreciation for the forces, relationships, economics and dynamics of the growing and dynamic ecosystem. This solid foundation will enable our customers to invest and deliver next generation services with confidence.
On a lighter note, Mark is a firm believer in working hard and having fun at the same time. Those who know him well know that Mark enjoys the time he spends working directly with people across the industry and that he is not afraid to bring some humor to the table. Mark also has diverse interests and passions outside of the identity-world. Mark is a life-long musician who grew up playing the saxophone and moved on to add piano, guitar and drums to the mix. He has never been afraid to break the ice at Karaoke night! If he is not playing tunes at home, you may find Mark in the garage wrenching on the 1971 MG Midget that he restored or cruising around town in it (you cannot miss it). Mark is a Boston-area native who completed his undergraduate and Executive MBA at Suffolk University and continues to root for the all the home teams (Red Sox, Bruins, Patriots and Celtics). He continues to reside in the area with his wife Lauri, son Danny and daughter Olivia.
