Meet Santosh Putchala
Santosh contributes to the privacy offering strategy and assurance activities at the firm and participates in General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), privacy engineering, privacy by design, privacy by re-design engagements along with the general privacy engagements. With a background in cybersecurity, Santosh was drawn to this type of work because of his deep interest in research, privacy, and data protection. Santosh cites the best part about his job as the nature of the work and subject matter expertise of his colleagues.
He has had a few favorite projects during his time at Kuma: helping a BFSI client with privacy engineering, privacy-by-design, and operationalization and driving the GDPR strategy and implementation for a specialized biopharmaceutical company. Prior to working with Kuma, one of Santosh’s most unusual jobs was as a market engineer for an advisory firm. Most interesting jobs for him include participating in various projects for privacy and information security products and health platform privacy engineering.
Santosh lives in Columbia, South Carolina, where his favorite places are Lake Murray and Myrtle Beach. He is originally from Bangalore, the Silicon Valley of India. When he was a kid, he wanted to be a medical doctor and his favorite family tradition is to get-together during the harvest festival. He is inspired by knowledgeable peers and family members, and he once met Adam Gilchrist, the Australian former international cricketer and former captain of the Australian cricket team.
Santosh’s favorite news sources are Harvard Business Review and Bloomberg Business Week. The last book he read was Measure What Matters by John Doerr and the best book he’s ever read is Predictably Irrational by Dan Ariely. His favorite travel spot is the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, and if he could meet anyone in the world dead or alive, he chose Nikola Tesla.
Santosh holds first professional degree in law (JD), Master of Science in cyber law and cybersecurity, postgraduate diploma in management, postgraduate diploma in consumer law and protection, diploma in internet law and policy, and bachelor’s degree in engineering. He also holds gold standard industry certifications in privacy and security. He is actively engaged in global working groups in privacy and data protection. In recent activity, he served as a select member in the ISC2 European Advisory Council GDPR Taskforce.
Some other interesting things about Santosh is that he wouldn’t mind swapping places for a day with a sailor. Does anyone know a sailor? When asked if he could pick one superpower, he said time travel. His favorite number is 9 as it represents completeness – it’s the end of a cycle in the decimal system. He loves binge watching Big Bang Theory. He is a movie buff and frequents theatres. He also likes long drives. Last, his favorite quote is “What we know is a drop; what we don’t know is an ocean.” We’re so glad to have learned some new things about Santosh and we encourage you to connect with him directly.
