Meet Tracy Hulver
Tracy leads the identity practice for Kuma. His primary role is to listen to clients and gain a deep understanding of their identity challenges, provide insight into threats and regulatory issues, help them sort out the benefits and challenges of identity solutions, and offer strategic direction for the most effective technologies and processes.
He was drawn to this type of work by a desire to help organizations win the battle against identity fraud and make doing business online easier and safe for consumers. Tracy is mindful that identity should be used as a business enabler, not a business impediment. He especially enjoys helping clients solve problems and see their business grow and their fraud liability shrink.
As a kid, he wanted to be an astronomer and then had his eye on becoming a geologist, eventually leading him to cybersecurity. He once met all three of the Apollo 11 astronauts – Michael Collins, Buzz Aldrin, and Neil Armstrong. It makes sense that the most memorable work Tracy experienced was as a systems programmer for a vendor that supplied software to NASA for the Shuttle Data System. Working from the Kennedy Space Center, seeing shuttles Atlantis and Discovery up close, and interacting with the Space Shuttle team was an incredible, out-of-this-world experience!
Tracy lives in Winchester, Virginia home – a small town in the Shenandoah Valley, with a rich history going back to the French and Indian War (and the birthplace of Pasty Cline!). Close to Washington, D.C., as a self-professed political junkie, Tracy is perfectly situated. He chose Thomas Jefferson when asked if he could meet anyone in the world dead or alive, citing his philosophies to his failings. We’d love to listen in to a conversation between Tracy and Jefferson – no doubt a lively interchange. Tracy also said he wouldn’t mind swapping places for a day with the President of the United States, regardless of who is in office. When asked why, he mentioned flying on Airforce One. I think we have a theme here – astronomy, astronauts, space shuttles, Airforce One – Tracy may be an airman at heart!
Some other interesting things about Tracy is that he’s seen AC/DC three times, taking his 12-year-old son the last time around (can you say cool dad?). As a scuba diver, his favorite vacation spot is Key Largo, and his latest Netflix binge was The Haunting of Hill House. Last but not least, Tracy is inspired by seeing people overcome adversity and persevere with a positive attitude, reminding him of what’s really important in life. His favorite quote is “Good things happen to good people”. We agree! We encourage you to connect with Tracy directly.
