Welcome Jade Mathison to the Kuma Family

Welcome Jade Mathison to the Kuma Family

Meet Jade Mathison; Jade joins us as a Senior Analyst in our Privacy Team.

After obtaining her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of South Carolina, Jade began her privacy career. She served as a privacy officer for a pharmacy with locations throughout the country and grew to become the Director of Corporate Compliance for that organization. In addition to maintaining knowledge of relevant privacy legislation and regulations, her time was spent supervising the compliance department employees, overseeing internal and external audits, monitoring training and licensing verification, and creating policies and procedures.

Most recently, Jade served as the Deputy Chief Privacy Officer for the South Carolina Department of Administration. In this role, she conducted privacy impact assessments and comprehensive privacy reviews of policies, procedures, and technologies to ensure alignment with laws, regulations, and industry-recognized fair information practices. She also advised agencies on the integration of privacy and confidentiality requirements to appropriately safeguard sensitive information, assisted with data classification, and created and maintained privacy materials.

Jade chose to be in the field of privacy due to its expanding and challenging nature. “Privacy is an ever-changing field that presents new challenges and opportunities”, states Jade.

She is excited to provide privacy expertise in her role with Kuma. Whether serving in the capacity of a Virtual Chief Privacy Officer, conducting HIPAA Risk Assessments, assisting with policy review and development, or standing up privacy programs, she looks forward to helping clients achieve their privacy goals.

Privacy is her calling, but it is not all that there is to Jade. She has been a South Carolinian her entire life and still lives in the state with her husband and their three sons. When you can’t find Jade behind her computer helping out our clients, Jade enjoys reading Sci-Fi books especially those that are centered around time and space travel. In addition, one of her guilty pleasures is the television show called Hoarders.
