Kuma is proud to announce the addition of Jeff Shultz to the Kuma team. Jeff brings a combined seven years of military and civilian experience, focusing on helping clients address their operational and strategic needs, including assisting senior leaders to develop action plans from risk based system assessments. Serving as an Air Force Reserve Cyber Operator, Jeff lead a team of 23 Airmen in defense of DoD networks and resources, including continuous monitoring, defensive strategy and policy setting, and hardware implementation. He has participated in multiple threat assessments of Airforce weapons systems, and continues to support and defend the DoD network by implementing NIST based security standards to antiquated systems.
Prior to joining the Kuma team, Jeff led the State and Local Government Strategic Partnerships Division at ID.me, a leader in identity as a service scross the public and private domains. While in the government, Jeff helped lead the implementation of the National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace (NSTIC) National Program Office (NPO). He has managed multiple projects geared toward improving privacy in the identity ecosystem and led the offices’ research work stream. The White House Initiative set a public and private sector led strategy to improve security and privacy in online transactions, as well as provided federal funding to promote the development of trust and privacy enhancing mechanisms and frameworks in the online marketplace. As an identity and access management subject matter expert, Jeff has also provided support to several Federal clients including the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense.
